Nelson Mandela’s legacy and our fight against hunger

July 18, 2022
Nelson Mandela Day

Each year on July 18, people across the world reflect on Nelson Mandela’s legacy by taking action against poverty, and engaging in initiatives that support education and literacy, food and nutrition, sanitation, and shelter.

In celebration of Nelson Mandela Day, our team in Johannesburg will come together to support Rise Against Hunger by preparing and donating meals to feed and empower local communities. This initiative will contribute to our efforts supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 2: Zero Hunger.

Rise Against Hunger is an international organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid worldwide. They offer fully balanced meals for pre-school children, which is necessary for their holistic development. Dependent on passionate, active volunteers for meal packaging events and food distribution, Rise Against Hunger delivers measurable results and a restored hope for hungry children.

It Starts with a Meal™ is Rise Against Hunger’s global initiative that calls for caring corporations and individuals to rise against the impact of global hunger. This support will aid Rise Against Hunger as they rebuild and restore communities impacted by food insecurity. Our Johannesburg office will pack 15,000 meals this month—enough to feed 65 children for one year. We’re honored to participate in #MandelaDay as we continue to support and empower those around us.
