  • In this Arctic climate, all heavy equipment, most bulk supplies, and fuels must be trucked in along ice roads open only during February and March.
  • The completion of the project depended on the success of the ice road campaign in the winter of 2015, when the majority of construction material were shipped to site.
  • Meticulous logistics and careful contingency plans supported more than 2,000 truckloads that traveled the 420 kilometers to the site.

  • Our scope includes design and development of the processing plant and all support facilities. People were accommodated on site as construction peaked during the summer of 2015.
  • About 250 full-time employees make up each rotation during construction at this fly-in/fly-out remote work site.
  • The process plant is designed to handle 3 million tonnes per annum(tpa). The mining operation must move approximately 30 million tpa of rock to access the kimberlite ore body.


  • This fourth diamond mine in the Northwest Territories is the fifth one to be developed north of the 60th parallel since the early 1990s.
  • Recognized by the Project Management Institute with the Project of the Year Award in 2016
  • Our experts contributed to environmental-requirements monitoring and reporting for permit compliance. We oversaw the feasibility study, completed at an estimated C$1,019 million.
  • The first diamond was achieved on June 30, 2016 and the project has moved into the production phase. The final cost is estimated to be, C$1.056 billion.
  • This is one of the few De Beers-Anglo projects forecasted to be completed on schedule and within its targeted budget.
