As Ontario prepares for growing electricity demand in an increasingly complex energy landscape, Hatch brought clients, industry leaders, and technical specialists together for the 57th annual H.G. Acres Symposium.
The program tackled issues already influencing decisions across the sector. Following a keynote on “The Evolving Power Landscape in Ontario,” discussions moved from transmission expansion and congestion relief to modernizing legacy assets, energy development, government’s role, long-duration energy storage, and the impact of data center growth on the grid.
The breadth of the agenda was deliberate. The H.G. Acres symposium was designed to create discussion across disciplines, with panel conversations, technical presentations, and audience participation bringing different industry perspectives into the room.
“The challenges facing the energy sector are becoming more interconnected, and solving them requires us to look beyond individual assets or technologies. The Hatch H.G. Acres event gives us an opportunity to bring different perspectives into the same room, challenge our thinking, and have the conversations that will help move the industry forward. - ”Jim Sarvinis, Global Managing Director, Energy, Hatch
That exchange is part of what has sustained this event for 57 years. The symposium provides a forum where Hatch’s technical expertise can meet the experience and perspectives of clients and other industry leaders, opening conversations that extend beyond individual projects or technologies.
For Hatch, those conversations also reflect how we approach the challenges facing the energy sector: looking across the entire system and bringing together expertise spanning generation, transmission, infrastructure modernization, emerging technologies, and the broader considerations that influence how energy projects move forward.
As Ontario’s energy needs continue to evolve, the H.G. Acres Symposium remains an opportunity to bring the industry together to share knowledge, challenge thinking, and help shape the conversations influencing what comes next.
