For Immediate Release

Donor of Merit Award from Royal Ontario MuseumToronto, ON— Hatch has been recognized with the Royal Ontario Museum’s (ROM) Donor of Merit Award for its continued support of one of Canada’s leading cultural institutions.

Since 1999, Hatch has partnered with ROM to advance initiatives that expand access to knowledge, strengthen collections, and engage broader audiences. Through this collaboration, Hatch has supported the acquisition of the Kirwin Collection—more than 21,000 ores and minerals assembled over four decades by exploratory geologist Douglas Kirwin—an extraordinary addition to the Museum’s renowned geology collections.

Hatch’s contributions have also supported the work of ROM’s Earth Sciences department as well as the Museum’s exhibition strategy, catalyst fund, building renovations, and digital programming.

A key outcome of this partnership is the establishment of the Hatch Curator of Indigenous Art and Culture. Now held by Rhéanne Chartrand, the role enables ROM to lead a collaborative approach to stewarding and showcasing Indigenous collections and perspectives. Through this support, Hatch continues to demonstrate its commitment to reconciliation, social responsibility, and positive change. By promoting dialogue and collaboration, it aims to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.

Hatch’s partnership with ROM reflects its broader commitment to contributing to the communities where it operates—supporting education, advancing inclusion, and helping to build a more equitable and sustainable future.
