Chalk River, ON – The Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Canada’s premier nuclear science and technology organization, announced that it has signed a series of partnership agreements with a group of organizations that are strategically important to its future during a signing ceremony held on November 1, 2022, at the Chalk River Laboratories. These new strategic delivery partnership agreements, of which Hatch is a signatory, are designed to enhance and build the necessary capabilities and capacity to ensure the delivery of CNL’s corporate strategy, Vision 2030, which includes the continued revitalization of the Chalk River Laboratories campus.

These agreements will enable CNL to more confidently plan and deliver its program of work, but also achieve broader organizational objectives including company-wide sustainability targets, improved engagement with Indigenous Peoples, and economic development using local suppliers in the delivery of its projects.

With a significant program of work on the horizon at the Chalk River Laboratories campus, it is critical that we have a reliable supply chain in place to safely deliver this work on time, on schedule, and according to the high expectations of CNL, AECL and the Government of Canada,” commented Mr. McBrearty. “These agreements will facilitate improved engagement and relationships with our supply chain at a business-to-business level, which will strengthen our performance and the execution of the work. We can also leverage these agreements to prioritize the use of local suppliers and Indigenous businesses as part of our commitment to more sustainable operations.”

"As a long-term partner with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Hatch is proud to establish this strategically important agreement.  We value the existing and future engagements across all of CNL’s three pillars to create value for the existing operations and solve some tough challenges within the industry.” commented Amar Jolly, Global Director, Nuclear at Hatch. “Striking this agreement will ensure CNL can leverage the full potential of services and offerings Hatch can bring to compliment Canada’s premier nuclear science and technology organization to advance itself as a world leader in innovative applications from nuclear technology.”

As we transition to a low-carbon economy, nuclear must be considered as a key component of the energy mix that is required to meet the growing demand

Nuclear means sustainable and accessible energy for all. It offers a reliable source of baseload emission-free energy safely, while providing stability to a power distribution grid that is being tested like never before. The next generation of reactor designs are on the brink of commercialization and new markets are emerging. Innovative thinking in life extension means you can get more out of your existing assets. And while concerns related to safety, and nuclear waste have merit, ground-breaking advances are leading to safer, more practical nuclear operations while the industry continues to demonstrate its leadership and responsibility in managing existing waste liabilities.  With nuclear, the possibilities are endless for our greener future.

Big. Small. New. Refurbished. Whatever your plans, whatever your scope. We can help.
