Hyperion Metals engages Hatch for scoping study of the Titan Project

May 25, 2021

Tennessee, United States—Hyperion Metals has engaged Hatch to undertake key engineering studies as part of their scoping study for the Titan Project in west Tennessee. Located in one of the most important mineral-rich areas of the United States, the project covers approximately 4,000 acres of titanium, rare earth minerals, and zircon rich mineral sands.

The Titan Project is strategically located in the southeast of the United States, close to significant manufacturing capacity and providing a significant logistical advantage over current supplies of imported titanium feedstock. It supports Hyperion’s Mission to develop zero carbon, sustainable critical minerals in the U.S. for industries driving the modern world, including electric vehicles (EVs), renewables, and space exploration.

Anastasios Arima, Managing Director of Hyperion, commented, “We are very pleased to announce the commencement of a Scoping Study to be led by Hatch, a globally recognized engineering, consulting, and design firm, and it is a pleasure to engage such a reputable and experienced group to assist our team in progressing development of the world class Titan Project. Our project is critical to the U.S. requirement for sustainable, domestically sourced critical minerals for advanced U.S. industries such as aerospace, EV’s, defense and renewables.”

Hatch will lead the design and project management of the scoping study, which is a key step in the development of the Titan Project and will outline material physical and economic metrics as well as major development timelines.

“We are very excited to embark on this partnership with Hyperion,” said John Elder, Hatch’s regional director, Metals, USA. “Not only does this project further develop our business strategy in the United States, but Hyperion’s pursuit of zero carbon, sustainable supply chains also aligns directly with our own commitment to developing a future shaped by a sustainable global society.”

Hyperion expects the Titan Project scoping study to be completed in Q3 2021.
