Deep River, Canada—Hatch and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) have announced a five-year master services agreement to support CNL’s vision for the revitalization of the Chalk River Laboratories campus. Launched in 2016, the decade-long transformation initiative includes the refurbishment of select existing facilities, the renewal of supporting infrastructure, and the construction of new modern laboratories and workspaces.

“We are thrilled to partner with CNL on this significant revitalization initiative,” said Amar Jolly, Hatch’s Global Director of Nuclear Power. “Together, we will support CNL’s innovative work in nuclear science and technology by creating modern facilities for research that serve the needs of their customers today, and well into the future.”

As part of the agreement, Hatch will provide multi-disciplinary services for this revitalization effort, which includes the decommissioning of aging infrastructure, as well as investment in new world-class science facilities.

CNL's Chalk River Laboratories are located in the Province of Ontario, 190 kilometres northwest of Canada's national capital, Ottawa. The CNL site comprises 3,700 hectares (9,100 acres) along the Ottawa River. The site has unique capabilities, expertise, and specialized facilities that support innovation in safety, security, health, environmental, and clean energy technologies.
