Energy and Mines Australia Summit

Reducing Mining Energy Costs with Renewables

June 27-28, 2018
Pan Pacific Perth
Perth, WA, Australia

Hatch is pleased to sponsor, exhibit, and present at the Energy and Mines Australia Summit, June 27–28 at the Pan Pacific in Perth, Australia.

The economics of renewables are leading large numbers of Australian mines to assess alternative energy as a means of reducing their exposure to energy risk, improve power security, and reduce carbon emissions. The 2nd annual Energy and Mines Australia Summit will bring together senior mining energy decision-makers with global renewables experts to discuss the barriers and opportunities for energy diversification in mining.

Hatch’s director of hybrid power, Michel Carreau, will present, “Reducing Energy Costs with Solar for a Remote Argentinian Mine,” on Wednesday, June 27 at 3:40 p.m. Michel will discuss the main drivers for integrating solar PV with natural gas at this remote mine, the next steps for project implementation, and the current expectations for gas savings, as well as what lessons from this project can be applied to the Australia context.

For more information on energy storage, read Michel’s latest blog, “Energy storage: a kW saved is a kW earned,” To find out more about how renewable power can be integrated into a mine’s energy mix, see our profile of the Raglan Mine Integrated Wind-Storage-Diesel Energy project, click here.
