Lafontaine tunnel is a 1.4kmlongimmersed road tunnel that connects the city of Longueuil to Montreal. Being over 50 years, the tunnel required rehabilitation plan which included the upgrade of ventilation system to enhance the fire safety level. As such, the tunnel has now been equipped with a set of Saccardo nozzles and new fans to control smoke propagation in different fire scenarios. This paper focuses on the work done in the design of the Saccardo nozzles, predicting its performance, and discusses the associated challenges in the design.
