Glenn Sakaki

Global Director, Marketing

Aspiring filmmaker and avid nature and wildlife photographer, Glenn is a metallurgical engineer by trade and has been part of the Hatch family for almost twenty years! Since Glenn began his career with Hatch, he has had the opportunity to work in various parts of the business including marketing Hatch’s advanced systems capabilities and leading the global information and technology systems capabilities team, as well as the renewable power team. He now holds the position of global director, marketing, communications, and public relations.

With almost twenty years in the business, Glenn has been involved in many cool projects, but the one he says stands out the most was when, in 2015, he had the opportunity to rebrand the company, which included developing Hatch’s visual identity, mission, vision, and values.

What does positive change mean to you?

“I have dedicated my life to creating positive change in everything I do and in all stages of my career. Through both my formal training as an engineer working in the metallurgical industry tackling the tough to now, developing authentic connections between people through storytelling and shared experiences. To encourage people to positively impact the world, we need to create meaningful interactions to facilitate change!”

What do you think are the toughest challenges facing your clients?

“Growth in some of the world’s advanced economies has stalled due to reduced investment activity, weak global trade, and a softening in manufacturing activity. In emerging markets, commodity exports have substantially declined reflecting low commodity prices, weaker global trade, volatile capital flows, and persistent domestic challenges are affecting our core clients in the metals, energy, and infrastructure sectors in different ways.

We believe we are in a much better position to help our clients with their emerging challenges by remaining true to our corporate Manifesto and mission: together we create unprecedented outcomes for our clients by partnering with them to develop better ideas. Our exceptional, diverse teams combine vast engineering and business knowledge, applying them to the world’s toughest challenges. We build practical solutions that are safe, innovative, and sustainable.”

What are you most proud of?

“Our marketing, communications, and public relations team is one of our most diverse teams in our company with regard to culture, gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, disability, and geography. We believe that the best ideas come from a diverse group of professionals, and we collaborate each day to ensure plurality of thought.”

What do you like most about working at Hatch? How do you think the Hatch culture is different from other companies?

“Over the past twenty years, I have had the opportunity to work in all parts of this organization – our business units and practices, project delivery teams, and, now, our shared services group. It’s been a pleasure to work in over a dozen roles and six continents – it's enabled me to best understand our organization’s unique strengths, and why people choose to stay here from their first day out of university until their retirement.

As a privately-held business with a flat organizational structure and a unique corporate culture, Hatch is a one-of-a-kind company that will be difficult to replicate, anywhere. I wish I would’ve found them sooner in my career!”
