Francesco Addario

Francesco Addario is a Professional Engineer in our Highways and Bridges group whose work sits at the intersection of technical excellence, project leadership, and client trust. Throughout his career, he has contributed to highway, pedestrian, and railway bridge projects that help connect communities and support the movement of people and goods across Canada. His experience spans multi-disciplinary total project management and project delivery, feasibility studies, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, structural analysis, structural rehabilitation and replacement, visual structural inspections and evaluation, asset management, contract administration, technical advisory and new construction.

What motivates Francesco most is bringing people together to solve complex challenges. From major transportation programs to multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, he is known for his collaborative approach, ability to navigate complexity, and commitment to delivering practical solutions that create lasting value for clients and communities. He has held key leadership roles both on major project pursuits and project delivery for various clients (public, private, design consultants and contractors) on transportation infrastructure projects delivered through P3, design-build and design-bid-build contract models, helping teams align around a shared vision and move projects forward with confidence.

In 2026, Francesco was named one of Canadian Consulting Engineer's Top 10 Under 40, a recognition that reflects both his technical achievements and the respect he has earned from clients, colleagues, and industry partners. Whether supporting project delivery, mentoring team members, or helping shape the next generation of infrastructure, he is passionate about creating positive outcomes that extend well beyond the bridge itself.

What does positive change mean to you?

As a Professional Engineer working within the transportation infrastructure industry, positive change for me naturally means the ability to physically shape the built environment around us for the better, ensuring the public has access to safe, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure. It also means promoting collaboration and innovation amongst teams working together to deliver solutions in the best interests for a project.

How are you changing the world?

Working on complex transportation infrastructure projects with our partners gives me the opportunity to contribute to something that has a lasting impact on communities. Through collaboration with clients, design specialists, and contractors, we help deliver highways and bridges that are sustainable, durable, and built to support the connections people rely on today and into the future.

What do you think are the toughest challenges facing your clients?

Some of the toughest challenges facing our clients, which can range from public transportation agencies to contractors, include delivering cost-efficient and sustainable infrastructure. In today’s market with volatile supply chain prices, the civil infrastructure industry must adapt to developing innovative solutions to create resilient public infrastructure while balancing cost-efficiency and value. Specifically, the need for utilizing emerging technologies, implementing advanced materials, and adopting accelerated construction techniques has become increasingly more important and mandatory in today’s projects.

What are you most proud of?

Being the first engineer in my family is one of my proudest achievements, reflecting years of hard work, perseverance and dedication. I am also proud of the long-lasting relationships I have built over my career with colleagues, clients and industry partners by progressively bringing complex infrastructure projects from an initial plan to reality. I have tremendous gratitude for having the opportunity to collaborate with talented individuals working collectively as a high-performing team to deliver multi-million and multi-billion-dollar highways and bridge projects for our clients.
