Why do you believe in diversity and inclusion?I believe in diversity and inclusion because of my experiences growing up in South Africa during the dismantling of the Apartheid Regime. During this time, I faced many challenges when it came to my academic progress as well as during my career. It made me realize how important it was to give and be given opportunities that allow one to prosper and grow.
What do you think we need to do as individuals to improve inclusivity?Everyone should re-program their thought processes to focus on inclusion and growth. We all have our predetermined mindsets that must be broken and rebuilt to allow for diversity and inclusion. This transformation requires continuous effort and commitment, but the positive impact on our communities and workplaces makes it worthwhile.
What does positive change mean to you?To me, positive change means making a difference in someone’s life to a level where they can take lessons learnt and use them to improve and flourish on their own.
What do you think are the toughest challenges facing our clients? One of the toughest challenges that clients face is financial considerations because things always come down to the budget. A technical solution is aways possible but finding and allocating the finances accordingly is difficult. Another important challenge they face is the ever-changing landscape in terms of legal and government requirements. These changes take time and effort to implement.
What are you most proud of?I am most proud of the young professionals I have mentored and developed throughout my career. It is always a very special moment when someone calls you and says thank you, leaving a lasting mark of gratitude knowing that you made a difference.
What do you like most about working at Hatch? How do you think the Hatch culture is different from other companies?I like the flat connected structure as it creates an environment where people have the ability to ask, grow, and develop. This inclusive approach ensures that no one feels alone and helps bring out the best in everyone.
