Challenge
- Expand the Khumani Iron Ore Mine, located 18 km south of the town of Kathu in the Northern Cape, on the Bruce, King, Mookaneng, and Parson farms
- Deviate the Postmasburg and Hotazel Transnet Freight Rail line in order to develop the King ore body and sustain the increased annual throughput
- Construct approximately 8.36 kilometers of electrified railway line and associated infrastructure including stormwater diversion
- Uplift and stack the existing perway and overhead traction equipment material
Solution
- Provided EPCM services for the implementation phase of the project
- Reviewed and confirmed the engineering and design deliverables undertaken as part of the Khumani Expansion project
- Undertook the procurement function required for and on behalf of Assmang Limited for the placement of supply contracts and construction packages
- Provided quality assurance and control of the supply and construction packages
