Challenges
- Establish new 2 Line service from Redmond Technology Station to downtown Redmond.
- Add two new stations in southeast Redmond and downtown Redmond.
- Provide convenient connections to the regional transit network from east King County.
- Improve access to Marymoor Park, downtown Redmond, and regional destinations.
Solutions
- Enabled seamless system expansion by designing traction power, overhead catenary, signaling, and communications fully integrated into Sound Transit’s 2 Line network.
- Brought critical infrastructure together through coordinated systems design, supporting reliable and efficient operations across the new extension and stations.
- Helped meet rising demand by supporting procurement of 62 low-floor light rail vehicles and an additional 152 cars for future growth.
- Worked side-by-side with Sound Transit and King County Metro to align operations, maintenance, and engineering for long-term performance and service reliability.
