Fatigue Prediction and Remediation in Bulk Materials Handling Structures - A Review

Abstract

Fatigue in bulk materials handling (BMH) structures remains a critical concern due to cyclic loading, dynamic impacts, and harsh operating environments. These factors often lead to progressive damage, reducing structural integrity and increasing maintenance requirements and, in extreme cases, significant remediation costs.

This paper reviews current approaches for fatigue prediction and remediation in BMH systems, with a focus on storage bins that experience ‘silo quaking’.
