Digital Execution of Small Modular Reactors (SMR) Projects
Abstract
The emergence of global standards for information management and the advancement of technological solutions have enabled a major transformation in the way Small Modular Reactors (SMR) projects are executed, constructed, and operated. These factors pave the way for a truly integrated and collaborative environment that breaks the silos between stakeholders including owner operators and project teams including contractors and vendors.
The Common Data Environment (CDE) is a key enabler for digital execution and effective information management for all stakeholders involved on SMR projects. The CDE provides a single source of truth for various forms of information. This data-centric approach enables streamlined collaboration, more effective design reviews, advanced reporting, and strict quality assurance. It leverages technological advancements that drive the rigor, safety, and sustainability needed pursuant to the nuclear process. This approach also facilitates additional benefits and functionalities for subsequent phases of the SMR lifecycle, including construction and operations.
