Best practices for conducting factory acceptance tests on major capital projects

Abstract
This paper describes the best practices for planning and conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for major capital projects based off recent experience on a major Hot Strip Mill upgrade program. Topics include selecting the type of equipment to FAT, planning and execution (including inspection practices and procedures), who should attend an FAT, and the benefits of conducting an FAT.
