A sensitivity study on retort bed permeability utilising DEM techniques
A case study is presented in this webinar where DEM was successfully used to complete a sensitivity study on retort bed porosity. The objective of this project was to evaluate materials handling aspects and their influence on particle segregation and ultimately porosity. A loading design that minimised segregation effects was developed with the use of the DEM particle flow modelling. The retort heat plug integrity was able to be assessed with export particle data from DEM giving a more indicative result as compared to an idealised case.
