Advancing STEM education and livelihoods in India
From solar-powered classrooms to workforce ready skills, Hatch’s CSR in India connects STEM learning to real pathways into employment.

At Hatch, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is about creating practical, long-term value where we operate. In India, this means investing in education, skills, and infrastructure that enable young people to build stronger futures, while reinforcing sustainability and community resilience.
Hatch’s CSR efforts in India focus on two connected priorities: expanding access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and supporting pathways from learning to employment. Together, these initiatives reflect a multiyear commitment to inclusive growth and youth empowerment.
Hatch has partnered with Third Planet Foundation, a leading CSR organization in India. Through a memorandum of understanding, the partners launched a program to establish solar-powered digital classrooms and STEM laboratories in underserved government schools, where access to modern learning infrastructure is often limited.

By integrating renewable energy with digital learning tools, the program addresses multiple barriers at once. Solar-powered classrooms provide reliable, uninterrupted access to technology-enabled education in areas with inconsistent electricity supply, while reinforcing the real-world application of clean energy solutions.
Inside these classrooms, students engage with interactive digital content and hands-on STEM laboratories. The focus is on building curiosity, problem-solving skills, and confidence through experiential learning, a critical foundation for future academic and career pathways. For many students, it enables their first experience learning in a technology-enabled classroom.
“CSR, for us, is about doing the right thing in a way that creates sustainable value,” said Puneet Wadhwa, India country director at Hatch. “It’s not simply about giving back, but about supporting communities through thoughtful, long-term investments that build skills for the future.”
Building on its education initiatives, Hatch expanded its CSR focus to support young people transitioning from learning into the workforce. In Gurugram, Haryana, Hatch launched a Sustainable Skill and Livelihood Development Program aimed at improving employability and economic participation.

The program responds to the growing demand for industry-relevant skills by offering market-oriented training in engineering and information technology. Participants benefit from a blend of theoretical instruction and practical, hands-on learning grounded in real-world applications.
Recognizing that employability goes beyond technical expertise, the program also emphasizes communication and professional skills. By strengthening capabilities such as collaboration, workplace readiness, and effective communication, the initiative helps bridge the gap between education and employment.
“India has an incredible pool of young talent,” Wadhwa noted. “Through our CSR efforts, we want to support environments where students can explore STEM subjects confidently and see real possibilities for their futures.”
Together, Hatch’s CSR initiatives in India form a connected approach that links access to education with skills development and livelihood opportunities. By investing across multiple stages of the learning journey from early STEM exposure to workforce readiness, Hatch is helping create pathways that connect classrooms to careers.
