Hamilton, Canada — Hatch is proud to announce today that a design joint venture including Hatch, Egis, and SYSTRA Canada has been selected by Metrolinx as the design partner for the Hamilton Light Rail Transit (LRT) Civil and Utilities Works project in Hamilton, Ontario. The joint venture will provide comprehensive engineering and design services as part of the newly formed Hamilton LRT Civil & Utilities Alliance, which includes Metrolinx as owner participant and Aecon as construction non-owner participant.

Hamilton LRT Civil & Utilities Alliance has executed an alliance development phase agreement with Metrolinx to collaboratively define scope, cost, and schedule for key components of the project. The development phase will be approximately 18 to 24 months and will be followed by the construction implementation phase. The development phase will establish the detailed engineering and delivery plan in preparation for the implementation phase.

The Hamilton LRT will deliver 14 kilometers of modern, reliable, and frequent light rail transit service across Hamilton’s downtown core—from McMaster University to Eastgate—featuring 17 stops and connections to GO Transit and the Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) bus network. The system will support improved mobility and long-term growth across the region.

“At Hatch, we are proud to bring our global transit expertise and our deep roots with Metrolinx in Ontario communities on this transformative project. Alongside our partners, we look forward to working collaboratively within the alliance to advance thoughtful, sustainable design solutions that will strengthen connectivity and enhance quality of life for the people of Hamilton.” — Phillip Murray, Alliance Director, Hatch.

Further information about the project is available on the Metrolinx website.
