Hatch wins big at the 2025 Canadian Engineering Consulting Awards
A triple achievement for Hatch is highlighted by the Engineering a Better Future Award and two Excellence honors at Canada’s premier consulting engineering awards
Toronto, ON - We are proud to announce that the Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission Project has been honored with the Engineering a Better Future Award at the 2025 Canadian Consulting Engineering (CCE) Awards. This prestigious award recognizes the project that best showcases how engineering enhances the social, economic or cultural life of Canadians.
In addition to this award, we also received two Awards of Excellence, celebrating our commitment to engineering innovation, impactful project delivery, and sustainable development.
The winning projects include:
- Keeyask Generation Station – a 695-megawatt hydroelectric development on the lower Nelson River in northern Manitoba, designed to provide renewable energy while supporting regional economic development and incorporating significant Indigenous partnership and environmental stewardship.
- Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission project – a transformative, First Nations-led initiative that built 1,800 kilometers of transmission lines to connect 17 remote communities in Northwestern Ontario to the provincial power grid, replacing diesel generation with clean, reliable electricity and setting a precedent for Indigenous ownership and sustainable infrastructure development in Canada.
“We are incredibly proud of our teams applying their dedication and ingenuity to our projects globally,” said Jim Sarvinis, Hatch’s global managing director for energy. “These awards reflect our passion for solving complex challenges and delivering sustainable, forward-thinking solutions that benefit communities.”
The CCE Awards, presented by Canadian Consulting Engineer magazine, recognize outstanding achievements in consulting engineering. Our dual recognition exemplifies our leadership in project delivery excellence, impacting communities through innovative engineering and collaborative partnerships.
