Toronto, Canada – Hatch is proud to announce that James Marzocca, vice-chair and a member of Hatch’s board of directors, has been elected as one of fifty new Fellows elected to the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), one of the highest professional honors accorded to an engineer in Canada.

With more than four decades of leadership in engineering, project management, and metallurgical innovation, James has made transformative contributions to the global mining and metals industry. His election to the CAE recognizes his outstanding achievements in leading the delivery of large, complex capital projects, pioneering novel construction methods, and advancing safety and diversity in engineering practice.

As Hatch’s former global managing director of Project Management and Construction, and now vice-chair, James has mentored thousands of professionals, championed diversity and inclusion, and spearheaded global safety initiatives such as the “Working Together Safely” forum. His efforts have not only elevated engineering standards but also fostered a culture of care, innovation, and excellence.

“Being elected to the Canadian Academy of Engineering is a tremendous honor,” shared James. “This recognition reflects the collective efforts of the incredible teams I’ve had the privilege to work with throughout my career. I’m proud to contribute to a profession that is constantly evolving to meet the world’s most pressing challenges with innovation, integrity, and inclusivity.”
“James is a visionary leader whose technical expertise and people-first approach have earned him the trust of clients and colleagues alike,” said John Bianchini, Chairman and CEO of Hatch. “His election to the Canadian Academy of Engineering is a well-deserved recognition of his lifelong commitment to engineering excellence and societal impact.”

The Canadian Academy of Engineering comprises many of the country’s most accomplished engineers, who have demonstrated excellence in engineering and have contributed significantly to the advancement of the profession and society.
