Hatch employees win multiple awards at the AISTech 2022 conference

Pittsburgh, USA – Four Hatch experts have won two awards at this year’s Association for Iron & Steel’s (AIST) annual conference, held recently in Pittsburg, USA. AIST is a non-profit with over 15,000 members in 70 different countries and its annual conference, AISTech, is seen as the steel industry’s premier technology event.

AIST’s Technology Committee Awards recognize notable achievements in the global iron and steel industry and are awarded each year at the AISTech conference. In recognition of his exceptional contributions in the field of ironmaking and ore agglomeration technology, Ian Cameron, principal metallurgist with Hatch’s Ferrous team, was awarded the Thomas L. Joseph Award. For their paper, “Addition of Scrap and HBI/DRI to the Blast Furnace – Technology to Overcome Top Temperature Limits and Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions,” Ian Cameron, Don Tu, Mitren Sukhram, and Jennifer Woloshyn received the Josef S. Kapitan Award, which was judged to be the best submission presented at the conference by the AIST Cokemaking & Ironmaking Technology Committees.
