Mississauga, Canada— Eilidh McGregor, a senior engineer on Hatch's Transit team, was named one of 25 'Fast Trackers' under 40 by Railway Age, a leading magazine covering the rail industry. Established in 2016, the annual awards are presented to railroaders under 40 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico that impact their respective fields or within their company.

Originally from Scotland, Eilidh has volunteer experience in multiple countries and has been a community-minded and service-driven leader throughout her professional career. Before moving to Canada, Eilidh was a champion for youth pursuing STEM careers in the United Kingdom. She introduced students to exciting engineering career options and hosted engineering challenges at schools across her community. In Canada, Eilidh has been active in fostering the next generation of women leadership and empowerment by participating in her local Girl Guides chapter, where she is currently the treasurer.

Over the past year, she helped to deliver regional passenger rail infrastructure, acting as the technical procurement lead for Metrolinx on multiple new stations and renovations of existing stations through a novel design-build model. She is also the procurement lead of a design-bid-build package for a complex and congested mixed-use rail corridor required as early works for the GO Expansion and future Ontario Line. Although she started these projects during the pandemic, Eilidh maintained a commitment to mentorship and took it upon herself to onboard and guide three interns involved in these fast-moving projects.

Eilidh is also currently chairing the Rail and Transit Graduate Development program at Hatch. This program, which she developed in collaboration with regional leadership, has provided the framework and resources to enable others to benefit from personal and career development and goal setting, while fostering a collective mindset within the Rail and Transit team at Hatch.

“We couldn’t ask for a better role model for women in the rail industry. Eilidh is acting like an owner, leading the way technically, serving her community, and supporting the next generation of railroader women, earning her a Hatch Leadership Award in 2021. The 25 under 40 Railway Age 'Fast Trackers' award confirms what we knew all along: She is someone to watch for. We are all very proud of her dedication and we cannot wait for what she will accomplish next,” shared Eric Cone, Vice President, Global Director Transit
