Hatch is recognized with a 2021 ACEC New York Platinum Award

October 5, 2021

New York, NY - Hatch is proud to receive the 2021 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New York Platinum Award for its work on the New York City Transit (NYCT) A-Division Simulation and Improvement Study. Hatch will accept the award at a hybrid live/virtual luncheon on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Gotham Hall in New York City.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) on behalf of its subsidiary NYCT retained Hatch, working as part of a larger team, to perform a rail network capacity simulation and improvement study in support of comprehensive capacity assessment of the East Side and West Side A-Division subway lines in New York City. Hatch was responsible for all simulation modeling of existing wayside and future Communications-based Train Control (CBTC) signaling, as well as development of all future operating concepts. We were also responsible for training NYCT Operations Planning staff in the use of our TrainOps simulation software. This work supported NYCT’s evaluation of capacity constraints and improvements on the A-Division lines in the near-term and long-term, both under current operating conditions and with long-term service growth.

Each year, over sixty member firms submit projects to ACEC New York that are judged on a rigorous set of criteria that includes complexity, innovation, and value to society. These projects are judged by a panel of industry experts that include military and government officials, ACEC National and International leadership, educators from college and university engineering departments, and leadership from other organizations dedicated to the built environment.

Congratulations to the entire project team for their win!
