Mississauga, Canada—Hatch has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc., organizers of the annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition. The Canada’s Best Diversity Employers competition recognizes employers across Canada that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs.

This competition recognizes successful diversity initiatives in a variety of areas, including: (a) women; (b) members of visible minorities; (c) persons with disabilities; (d) Indigenous peoples; and (e) lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender/transsexual (LGBT) peoples.

Several years ago, we improved its efforts to develop a fully inclusive work environment. We recognized that if we were to truly drive positive change and solve the world’s toughest challenges, we needed to tap into the best, most creative, and innovative minds we could find. This required growth in a diverse and inclusive workforce—one that is successful not regardless of diversity in gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, disability, or way of thinking, but because of it.

Early in the company’s diversity and inclusion journey, we established employee-led global programs supported by teams in each of our regions that educate and empower our diverse workforce through relevant local programs. The teams have been executing a global diversity & inclusion strategy and implementation plan, which focuses on building a diverse workforce, encouraging an inclusive workplace, and driving positive change in their communities.

While there’s still much to do be done, Hatch has had some great successes, including being awarded Most Outstanding Company in Gender Diversity from Engineers Australia and being accredited as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. Hatch also has achieved Level 1 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment rating for three consecutive years.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers. We believe that in a successful organization, diverse backgrounds and perspectives spark innovation and great ideas, helping to move us and our world forward. As a global organization, we have colleagues in the thousands, all over the world, of all backgrounds, cultures, languages, and genders, working together. This is what makes Hatch a truly global and differentiated company—and what makes me so personally proud to come to work each day,” said John Bianchini, Hatch’s chairman and CEO.

The full list of Canada's Best Diversity Employers for 2021 was announced today in a Issuu reader embeds published in the Globe and Mail. Click here for a more on why Hatch was selected.
