Celebrating excellence: Hatch wins a 2020 ACEC New York Diamond Award

November 20, 2020

New York, New York: Hatch is very proud to accept the 2020 ACEC New York Diamond Award in the category of Studies, Research, and Consulting Engineering Services for their work on the New York and New Jersey Port Master Plan 2050. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s awards were announced in a virtual awards ceremony, which took place on November 18, 2020.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s “Port Master Plan 2050” is a comprehensive document that lays out a flexible road map for the next generation of land use and infrastructure development projects at the Port of New York and New Jersey. Combining worldwide port planning expertise with regional context, Hatch and its teaming partners were able to develop the thirty-year port master plan with the Port Authority. The key principles guiding the plan were to provide jobs and economic benefits to the region, ensuring sustainability and resiliency in all operations and future developments, identifying areas for improved operations, alternative revenue streams, and optimizing Port Authority-owned land.

Each year, over sixty member firms submit projects to ACEC New York that are judged on a rigorous set of criteria that includes complexity, innovation, and value to society. These projects are judged by a panel of industry experts that include military and government officials, ACEC National and International leadership, educators from college and university engineering departments, and leadership from other organizations dedicated to the built environment.

This project is also a recipient of the 2020 National Recognition Award at the National American Council of Engineering Companies awards gala.

Congratulations to the entire project team for their win!
