Orbis Plane Pull for Sight: Hatch expands commitment to help strengthen sustainable vision care for communities around the world

Hatch raised $18,200 for the Orbis Plane Pull for Sight, a fun, unique, and family-friendly team-building event where teams compete to pull a 60-tonne FedEx 757 cargo plane along a 20 ft. course in the ultimate tug-of-war test of strength, determination, and teamwork. Funds raised benefit Orbis, an international NGO that brings people together to fight avoidable blindness. With their network of partners, Orbis mentors, trains, and inspires local eye care teams to fight blindness in their own communities. Orbis believes that no one should live a life of unnecessary blindness, simply because of where they were born.

Hatch first became involved in 2017, when our team in Vancouver participated. In 2018, we expanded our efforts to include our Calgary office and this year our team in Mississauga joined in the fun—making history as the first company to have a team in each event city in the same year.

“We were happy to participate as we feel that Hatch and Orbis are aligned in our visions—to build positive change within our communities,” said Harvie Buitelaar, Hatch’s director of infrastructure for the Western North America region.
