Abstract

For reducing CO2 emissions, steel industry is considering several options for modifying the existing flowsheet covering ironmaking and/or steelmaking processes based on green power, green hydrogen and biomass. Continuation of operation with conventional blast furnace route requires implementation of technologies such as CCUS (carbon capture storage and usage). Significant reduction in CO2 emissions require high capex investment, massive infrastructure development m high energy intensive resulting in high operating cost.
