Top Intern Programs 2018
Hatch has ranked fourth in an annual list of Top 40 Intern Programs in Australia, the highest ranking for an engineering consulting company.
Toronto, Canada—Hatch has ranked fourth overall in a list of the Top 40 Intern Programs in Australia, the highest ranking for an engineering consulting company. The program is administered by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) and recognizes organizations that provide the most positive experience for their interns, as determined by the interns themselves.

This year, the winners were selected based on feedback received from more than 900 undergraduate students who took part in an intern program in 2017 or 2018. The survey was completed anonymously; interns were asked to rate their employer on a broad range of criteria in fifteen different categories including induction and training; content of work; ability to work on different projects or in different areas of the organization; amount of responsibility; access to senior management; feedback on performance; and the organization's culture and values.

One respondent’s survey answer to the question “What are the positives about the job and employer?” said, “Excellent culture, very open, everyone very approachable, always find answers to questions. There were good, regular opportunities to meet with Hatch leaders and hear their story, work and vision for the future. Very relaxed, welcoming culture.”

Jan Kwak, regional managing director, Australasia comments, “I am both proud and excited about this achievement for our team in Australia. It speaks to our commitment to implementing an effective intern program, and hiring, promoting, and retaining the most qualified people. We believe in delivering exceptional ideas to our clients by engaging with great people who want to make a difference and are committed to the pursuit of a better world through positive change.” Jan continued, “We’re most proud of the fact that the interns themselves provided the feedback that led to our fourth-place ranking overall, and first place ranking amongst engineering consulting companies.”

Last year Hatch engaged thirty-one intern students across our offices in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Wollongong, and Newcastle, fifteen of whom were female. Those interns worked across fifteen different Hatch disciplines, including all sectors and shared services.
