Preliminary Construction and Access plan – Transmission Line in North-western Ontario

April 4, 2016

After a competitive bid, Hatch was selected by NextBridge Infrastructure (NBI) to complete the preliminary construction plan and the field reconnaissance for its transmission line project in northwestern, Ontario, Canada.

Hatch developed the access plan for the project site, which includes access points, line access roads, main storage yards, laydown areas, camp sites, aggregate sources, and landfill sites. In addition, the scope included preparing the preliminary project construction plan which shows various transmission line construction activities. The equipment and approximate crew strength required for each activity and manpower loading graphs were also included in the plan. Hatch also provided helpful recommendations for the design and construction methodology for NextBridge.

Staff from Amherst, Mississauga, and Thunder Bay (formerly HMM office) worked on the project which began in August 2015 and was completed in January 2016. The next phase may start in late 2016.

The Thunder Bay office’s location near the project site was critical towards the development of the access plan.
