A hairy good time—Hatch Australia unite for World’s Greatest Shave

In Australia, Hatch’s Brisbane office came together in support of the Leukemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave, which provides families in Australia facing blood cancer with the emotional and practical support they need. They also fund vital research to get one step closer to cure and help more people survive blood cancer. Participants in the World’s Greatest Shave are encouraged to shave, color, or wax the hair on their head, chest, or face in aim to make a statement and raise awareness.

More than 2 million Aussies have taken part over the past two decades, with an estimated 37, 5000 kilograms of hair removed! Every day another 35 Australians are diagnosed with a blood cancer. That’s one Aussie every 41 minutes. Right now, more than 60,000 Australians are living with blood cancer or related disorders.

Together, Hatch in Brisbane, raised over $9,000 of donations from employees and the greater community. In the last week of the campaign, the fundraising efforts were matched generously by Hatch bringing their total to $18, 000. Those that took on the brave challenge of shaving their head said it was wonderful to see the Hatch community come together for such a worthwhile cause.

“Directly or indirectly, blood cancer has impacted the lives of thousands of Australians. It’s amazing to know that the money the other shavers and myself have raised will go to support not only those diagnosed with blood cancer, but their family and vital support system who may also struggle. This event exemplified the generosity of the Hatch family and that we truly believe in promoting positive change within the communities in which we operate,” said Zac Loewenthal, Hatch’s top fundraiser.

The World’s Greatest Shave is celebrated between March 13-17. For more information, visit the Hatch team page or visit https://worldsgreatestshave.com/
