Andrew W. Dunn is the managing partner of Canadian Shield Capital, which acts as Hatch’s investment arm, and is a member of Hatch’s Board of Directors.

Andrew holds a fellowship as a Certified Public Accountant (FCPA, FCA) and has more than 30 years’ experience in advising and leading mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and divestitures. He has served as an advisor to Hatch since 1985.

Andrew spent 27 years at Deloitte. Ultimately, he became vice chair of the firm and chair of its Client Cabinet, where he was responsible for its largest clients and government relationships. There, he co-authored The Future of Productivity, a research publication aimed at improving the productivity of Canadian business. He also served as the Canadian managing partner for tax at Deloitte and was named one of Canada’s leading tax advisors.

In 2014, Andrew founded Canadian Shield Capital, a private equity investment and advisory firm focused on identifying, acquiring, and building businesses with strong business models, great management, and sustainable, competitive advantages. Andrew cofounded the private equity firm Altas Partners in 2012, initially serving as chief operating officer and managing partner.

In addition to his roles at Canadian Shield Capital and Hatch, Andrew serves on a number of public and private company boards. He is currently the chair of the Board of Trustees of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. He also serves on the boards and chairs the finance committees of both the Children's Aid Foundation of Canada and Upper Canada College.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Accounting from the University of Waterloo.

He lives in Toronto with his wife, Christine, and son, Liam. His older son, Charlie, is studying at the University of Western Ontario.
