One of the most significant challenges the oil and gas industry faces is getting the product to market. Stringent regulatory requirements and increasing public scrutiny have made the business of pipelines and oil-by-rail projects increasingly onerous and demanding.
Bitumen and heavy oil need to be diluted before they can flow through pipelines and move to their market destinations. As a result, more and more producers have been turning to the railroad systems to ship their crude oil products.
It's important that we look at the whole picture—pipelines, rail, storage, loading, technologies, regulations—and work together as an industry to find new solutions that minimize costs and maximize profit.
These transportation channels call for sophisticated designs that enable an uninterrupted supply of fluid to move safely and in a way that's environmentally compliant. Typically, the focus is on integrity monitoring and automation.
We partner with our clients to provide the complete suite of services for pipelines. That includes everything from engineering and design to operational services. We support all aspects of pipeline design, from route and environmental planning, through to asset integrity.
Storage and loading terminals
A lack of pipeline-takeaway capacity along with high-diluent demand and increasing costs have been pushing many producers to ship their crude oil and products by rail. We have the expertise to deal with all facets of rail and marine loading or unloading terminals and infrastructure for crude oil, diluent, sulfur, LPG, and refined products.
We also work with our clients to develop diluent recovery facilities in conjunction with railbit loading terminals.
